How to use Cleristical

A simple guide to the extension and the core concepts behind personal bookmarks, spaces, folders, and collaboration.

Start here if you want the basics without extra product copy. This page covers how to connect the extension, where bookmarks go, and what each core concept means in the app.

Browser extension guide

Install it, connect it, then save pages into your personal library or a space.

  1. 1. Install the extension. Use the Chrome or Firefox store listing from the homepage.
  2. 2. Sign in to Cleristical. Use the homepage account forms and confirm your email first if the app asks for it.
  3. 3. Connect the extension. Click connect in the extension popup, approve the connection in Cleristical, and let the extension store its own token.
  4. 4. Save the current page. Choose a personal folder, one or more spaces, or both, then add an optional note.
  5. 5. Manage extension access later. Inside the app, open Extensions to revoke old tokens and force a reconnect.

Core concepts

These are the product primitives that show up across the app and extension.

Personal bookmarks

These are your own saved links. They live in your personal library and can be organised with personal folders.

Spaces

Spaces are shared collections. A bookmark copied into a space becomes that space’s own record, so the shared version can have its own comments, read state, folders, and lifecycle.

Private spaces

Use private spaces when the collection is for a defined group of people. They work well for team research, client reading lists, internal link libraries, study groups, or any shared archive that should stay visible only to invited members.

Public spaces

Use public spaces when the goal is publishing or community curation. They fit reading clubs, public resource collections, link roundups, or topic hubs where anyone should be able to browse the space and, when enabled, follow along with new additions.

Folders

Folders are nested. Personal folders and space folders are separate, so the same link can be organised differently in each context.

Roles

Each space has hosts, managers, and members. Hosts have the most control, managers handle routine administration, and members collaborate within the space rules.

Comments and read state

Comments and read state stay with the space bookmark, not the personal bookmark, so discussion and reading progress stay contextual.

Extension tokens

The extension does not reuse your site session cookie. It connects once, gets its own token, and uses that token for future saves.

Troubleshooting

A few common recovery paths.

No confirmation email? After registration, use the resend confirmation button on the homepage. It appears with your registered email and has a short cooldown between sends.

Extension stopped working? Reconnect it, or revoke the old token from the Extensions page in the app.

Unsure where to save a bookmark? Use your personal library for private organisation and copy into a space when the link needs shared context or discussion.
